IDRA goes to Dover International Speedway Monster Mile

Back in early April The International Drone Racing Association also know as the IDRA, announce a new partnership with Dover International Speedway also know as The Monster Mile. The Monster Mile which is located in Delaware is also billed as

“The World’s Fastest One Mile Oval.”

The IDRA will host their USA event at the track on the weekend of June 2nd thru the 4th, of 2017, Along side the NASCAR tripleheader race weekend. The event will be free and open to the public view in Dover’s FanZone.
The IDRA drone racing event will feature 16 professional teams from around the world. These teams are competing to earn points toward the ultimate goal the World Championship.
This is a three year agreement between Dover International Speedway and the IDRA. Providing NASCAR racing fans the opportunity to experiance drone racing and the IDRA a great venue to show the excitement of drone racing to another racing audience.

“Dover International Speedway is an incredible opportunity for IDRA,” said Justin Haggerty, the founder and CEO of IDRA. “Showcasing the sport, during a major NASCAR weekend, to over tens of thousands of motorsports fans is the best opportunity that IDRA could ask for. To IDRA, the drone racing community is the sport’s most valuable asset and it is set to grow after the Dover race”

“We’re excited to host an IDRA event in Dover,” said Mike Tatoian, Dover International Speedway president and CEO. “The Monster Mile provides race fans in the mid-Atlantic with a chance to experience NASCAR in person, and we’re looking forward to introducing those same passionate fans to a different kind of racing during our June 2-4 event.”

The IDRA’s 2017 drone racing series is a professional series consisting of six world wide events.
The Dover race event kicks off the 2017 season series here in the USA and the series concludes with the IDRA finals in Amsterdam. The World Championship is base on total points earned at each event throughout the year including the finals
held in Amsterdam Netherlands this October.

The complete 2017 IDRA race event calendar as of now looks as follows:

  1. USA Dover International Speedway June 2-4
  2. Portugal July
  3. South Korea July
  4. Russia August
  5. China September
  6. Netherlands October

So if you are in or around Delaware the beginning of June you can go to Dover International Speedway and watch a NASCAR race and and see one of the premier drone racing series today all on the same weekend.
